We went to see Dr. Wheeler on Monday, March 12th for Parker’s 2 week check up. He weighed 9 pounds and a half an ounce! He is growing! Dr. Wheeler said he looked great and was progressing just like he should. Over that weekend before, we began to experience a little more fussiness, gas and then spit up (it was also coming out his little nose). Dr. Wheeler said it was probably just reflux so he started up on his medicine for it. This past week Parker has definitely been struggling with reflux and Mom and Dad have been struggling with lack of sleep because he is not resting as well at night and we are fearful of him spitting up and choking. We went back to the see Dr. Wheeler Friday because we just weren’t convinced it was all reflux. He tested for RSV and that was negative, thank the Lord! He seems to think it is just some sort of viral thing with congestion because you can absolutely hear it and some wheezing so we are trying to love on him a little extra and letting him sleep with the humidifier now.
Wednesday, Parker got another cast. This was is green, I guess in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Our one last week was red so who knows what color we will get next Wednesday. I was very pleased with the amount of movement the OT at Moore Ortho, Deb, was able to get from Parker before she casted him. Deb and Dr. Hydorn both think Parker will need 2-3 more casts before the surgery to clip his heel cord. Our goal is to get him to 70 degrees out before we can do surgery and if you look at the pictures below, we are getting closer! After surgery, we will go back into a cast for 3 weeks straight after surgery. After that, we will be in the brace for 23 hours a day for 3-4 months and then only at nap time and bedtime for 3-4 years. I love my baby’s precious little foot and I will be so glad when all this is over!
