Lots of good progress on our little foot!

Parker got a great report Wednesday at the ortho!  Our goal with the serial casting was to get to 70 degress out before we did the surgery to release his heel cord and Wednesday he was already at 45 degrees out without any pressure.  That is AMAZING considering he had only had 3 casts up until that appointment and they thought it would take about 6.  If you are keeping up, our casts have been 1. white 2. red 3. bright green and now 4. baby blue.

So with all this progress, that means our surgery will be sooner than later.  The doctors think this beautiful little sweet blue cast may be our last one that he wears an entire week.  When we go Wednesday (March 28th), they will take this one off and evaluate where he is at that time.  If they think he is ready, they will recast him and schedule surgery at The Children’s Hospital for the day or so afterwards which means the end of this week.  He would have to get a new cast at our ortho appointment Wednesday because he will go into surgery with a cast and they will cut it off right before the procedure because any time out of the cast could be time that he regresses.  The surgery is general anesthesia (prayers for mommy and daddy are much appreciated!) and since he will only be 4-5 weeks old, we will probably end up staying overnight just so they can make sure he will do ok waking up from the anesthesia.  The surgery itself should take about 5 minutes but we are also having his tiny skin tag removed on his hand so that will probably add only another 2-3 minutes.  If the ortho looks at him Wednesday and thinks he needs one more full week in a cast, then we will do everything one week later but they said no more than that because he is making leaps and bounds.  Daddy says Parker is a little rockstar!
