Happy Sunday! So glad we got to go to church this morning and praise God. Today in Sunday School and in worship, we were reminded how Jesus is all we need. God is the creator and the ruler of all things and I am so glad I serve a living Lord. We should follow Christ not because our lives will be better if we do or because he will provide us with material things, but because we are called to be followers of Christ and to do everything for His glory. My prayer for our adoption is that Christ will be the center and that all that happens will be for His glory.
Everything that happens in our lives is for God’s glory, even if we don’t understand it while it is happening or possibly even while we are on Earth. This was so hard for me to understand as I was grieving the “loss” of not being able to have biological children. One of my dear friends told me to listen to the song “Blessings” by Laura Story. I will be honest and say I didn’t listen to it for a couple of months later but when I did, it was exactly what I needed to be reminded of.
“We pray for blessings, we pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You're near?
And what if trials of this life
Are Your mercies in disguise?
When friends betray us, when darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home
It's not our home
'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You're near?
What if trials of this life
Are Your mercies in disguise?
We pray for wisdom, Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
And all the while You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe
'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears?
'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears?
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You're near?
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst
This world can't satisfy?
And what if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise?
Lauren
